Learn the purpose of Vedic Ritual and enjoy a Concert of Healing Mantras. And don't forget the all-day vegetarian Ayurvedic buffet, with menus customized to the three body types! Yoga workshops and cooking demonstrations will be held and 24 Ayurveda-related exhibitors will be present as well. The event will conclude with a theatrical performance of the spiritual heritage of Ayurveda.
Ayurveda is a primordial system of healing that unites all mind-body modalities by including yoga, energy work, art, music, mediation, personal development, cuisine, astrology and palmistry. The aim of the Ayurveda Expo 2002 is to unite the Ayurvedic community of Toronto, bringing together the various modalities housed under the umbrella of this ancient medicine, while raising the profile of Ayurveda in the media and in the general public.
This Expo will highlight Ayurveda as a science that aims to nurture the spirit and the body through balancing health and lifestyle. Emphasis will be placed on how Ayurveda, and its disciplines, relate to the evolution of the self, namely, on how they aid individuals to understand their spiritual position, who they are, and what they are here to learn and do. This event will give the public a chance to experience the origins, myths and foundations of Ayurveda through keynote speakers, workshops, vegetarian Ayurvedic cuisine, experiential exhibits, theatre, artwork, Vedic ritual and more.
We are contacting you to not only inform you about the approach of this exciting event, but also to ask you to aid us in promoting the Expo by reaching out to your community and clientele. In exchange for your aid there is an opportunity to have your business information advertised in an Ayurveda Directory that will be handed out to all those who attend the Ayurveda Expo 2002. Moreover, we will be having an information booth where business advertisements will be available to all Expo attendants. With your support we will get more people involved in the Expo and enhance their awareness of mind-body medicines!
If you are willing to aid us in the promotion of this event please contact us at 416-504-6049 and we will be happy to provide you with flyers and/or tickets.

Temple Room Frequently-Asked-Questions for Newcomers
TEMPLE ETIQUETTE
For those of you who have never visited a Vedic Temple, here are some guidelines:
While shoes may be worn in the dining room, exhibitor area, basement demontration area, hallways and bathroom, shoes are not permitted in the balcony or temple room. Space will be provided to store your shoes. You may bring slippers as well.
Due to the Vedic vows of vegetarianism, no food containing eggs or any kind of meat is allowed in the temple. Similarly, no alcohol, drugs or smoking is allowed.
Once you enter the temple, especially during Aratis (spiritual offerings), you will witness prayers, bowing and offerings to the deities; the images of God and Goddess. This is not mandatory; you may simply sit and watch from the back. You may feel free to go up and look at the deities or just sit at the back and witness the ceremony.
It is customary to line up for Prasad (blessed food), and you will be given a full plate. Most people eat in the temple room. Eating in front of the deities is discouraged and so people still eating at 4:15pm and 6pm should leave the temple room and complete their meal elsewhere, when another Arati (spiritual offering) commences.
All eating is done either with cutlery or with only the right hand. When you finish your food you should wash your hands.
Children are welcome in the temple--the whole family.
When there are fire ceremonies in the temple for special occasions (12:30 - 1pm at the Expo) it is best not to wear leather or fur clothing.
People can bring, if they have an affinity to Radarhani or Krishna, flowers, fruits, milk, incense or cash donations, to go toward the maintenance of the deities.
Donations and offerings are not mandatory. Bringing yourself is enough of an offering.
Visitors are always welcome and the Temple is a good place to meditate!
Govinda's dining Hall, adjacent to the Temple, is open for lunch between 12pm and 2pm and reopens for dinner from 6 - 8pm. Buffet meals are $7. All leftovers from the restaurant are distributed freely.
